Do I Need to Eat Before I Workout?

Ever wondered if you really need to fuel up before hitting the gym? Here’s the lowdown on pre-workout nutrition!

Do I Need to Eat Before I Workout?

In an ideal world, to maximise your gym performance, you’d eat a solid meal containing carbs, protein, and fats about 2-3 hours before your workout. Plus, a quick carbohydrate-only snack 30-60 minutes before training would be a bonus. But, let’s get real—life isn’t always ideal.

Two Key Things to Consider:

  1. Training Time: If you’re an early morning warrior, squeezing in a full meal might not be practical (or worth sacrificing sleep). In this case, a smaller, easily digestible snack can do the trick.

  2. Your Current Phase: If you’re in a fat loss phase, you might find it tricky to fit in all the necessary calories around your workouts. The key is balancing your intake with your total daily calorie needs to stay on track.
